Watch your mouth

Jan 27, 2022

Your phone rings.

It's an unknown number.

Thinking it's a scam, you send it to voicemail.

Crap - a voicemail.

It's another Landlord wanting the inside scoop on your former Tenant.

Should they rent to this Tenant?

Did they damage the property?

Blah, blah, blah.

Wanting to help, you call the ol' chap back.

You spill the beans.

And mention the story that would make your mama cringe.

Smart move?

Um, no.  There is no upside to being a reference for a Tenant.

Both the Tenant and Landlord can sue you.

Even (especially) if your review was honest.

But if you can't help yourself, try this:

"Sorry, we do not give information on Tenants.  Buh-bye."

No good deed goes unpunished.
