Holy smokes

Jan 08, 2022

It's obvious.

Smoke alarms save lives.

Carbon dioxide detectors, too.

But did you know it's a crime if you don't install these at your rental property?

That's right.  Johnny Law can take you down.

Even if your place didn't burn to the ground.

All because alarms and detectors weren't installed.

Geesh, ain't that fine and dandy.

Seriously, you can't make this stuff up.

We tweaked the Legal Plan Lease last month to clarify a few things:

  1. Landlord installs the alarms and detectors;
  2. Tenant swaps batteries;
  3. Tenant's gotta let you know when something is wrong.

If your lease doesn't say this, change that.

Here's the deal: install alarms and detectors.

It keeps Tenant's safe.  And you out of hot water.
